Oct. 7, 2007

(Sammamish, WA) - USF women's golf competes in its third event of the Fall season when it travels to the Pacific Northwes to compete in the 2007 Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington at the par-72, 6,127-yard Sahalee Country Club. The event begins Monday, October 8 and runs through Wednesday with 18 holes scheduled for each day.

First round tee times on Monday begin at a 9 a.m., with second round action on Tuesday teeing off at 10 a.m. and the final round to start at 9 a.m., Wednesday. Teams will be starting from both the 1st and 10th tees. Live scoring of the event will be available at golfstat.com.

Sophomore Natasha Podmore returns to the scene of perhaps her best tournament of her freshman season in the Green and Gold. Podmore posted an eighth place finish to pace the Dons, firing a 223 (75, 77, 71).

"We have worked hard on our short games in preparation for Sahalee," USF head coach Ria Quiazon said. "They have set clear goals for this event, and are definitely more prepared. With everyone on the team regaining their health, the potential here for great play is incredible."

This event also marks the anticipated debut of sophomore transfer Danielle Cvitanov, who appears healthy and ready to go after struggling with a forearm injury. The UC Davis transfer was the 2006 NCAA Independent Player of the Year for Division I with the Aggies.

Eight teams in the 16-team field enter the event ranked in the latest Golf World/NGCA Golf Coaches' Poll: No. 3 Arizona State, No. 4 USC, No. 7 Arizona, No. 11 Pepperdine, No. 15 Stanford, No. 18 New Mexico, No. 20 BYU and No. 22 California. The field also includes Long Beach State, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, UNLV, San Francisco, Washington State and the host Huskies.

The Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational is named for the founder of the Washington women's golf program. One of the Pacific Northwest's most honored golfers, Ihlanfeldt started the UW program in 1974. She never accepted payment for her work as the Huskies coach, instead donating her salary back to the program to fund scholarships.
