Lacrosse Begins Season With Victory Over Robert Morris

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team opened the 2006 season with a thrilling 16-15 victory over Robert Morris on Friday afternoon at Saint Mary's Stadium. The Gaels begin the season 1-0, while Robert Morris fell to 0-1.

After trailing 15-12, with just over eight minutes remaining in the game, the Gaels scored the final three goals of the game, leading to the victory.

Jackie Spencer scored back-to-back goals, one on a free position shot and another unassisted, before Kim Reny scored the game-winner with 1:47 left in the game on an unassisted goal.

Saint Mary's freshman goalkeeper Hilary Gardner picked up the victory, recording five saves in over 56 minutes in net.

Offensively, Spencer led the way with six points on four goals and two assists. Molly Wagner had five points on five goals and Reny and Jessica Tsou each added three points.

Reny, in her first game in a Gael uniform recorded three goals on 10 shots, including the game-winner.

Chloe Dee added two goals and Dana Elfvin and Tsou each recorded one goal.

The Gaels return to action on Saturday, February 18 when the face UC Davis at 11 a.m. in Davis, CA.
