Lacrosse Remains Perfect at Home

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team beat Long Island University 13-10 on Friday afternoon at Saint Mary's Stadium in Moraga, CA, remaining perfect at home this season with a 2-0 record.

Overall the Gaels improve to 3-2 with the victory, while the Blackbirds fell to 0-4 overall.

Saint Mary's jumped out to a 10-4 halftime lead, and held on in the second have for the victory.

Goalkeepers Sara Jo Rodriguez and Hilary Gardner each played a half in goal and help the Blackbirds' offense down for most of the game.

Offensively the Gaels were led by Kim Reny, who scored a game-high four goals. Reny also added two assists for six points in the game.

Several players also stepped up on the offensive end as Chloe Dee had three goals and one assist and Dana Elfvin and Sonja Kapusta each had two goals and one assist apiece.

As a team the Gaels outshot the Blackbirds 33-25 and the combination of Gardner and Rodriguez recorded eight saves in the game.

Saint Mary's returns to action on Monday, March 20 when it faces Vermont at 3:30 p.m. at Saint Mary's Stadium.
