Women's Lacrosse Falls to Oregon 19-6

Eugene, OR - The Saint Mary's women's lacrosse team suffered its sixth straight loss to open the season, this time to the University of Oregon by a final score of 19-6 on Sunday afternoon at Pape' Field in Eugene, Oregon. The loss dropped the Gaels record to 0-6 overall while Oregon's improved to 2-5 on the season.

For the visiting Gaels, midfielder Jackie Spencer notched her first hat trick of the season as she led the Gaels with three goals. The Gaels also got single goals from midfielder Alex Oetken, attacker Lauren Riggers and attacker Jen Utley.

Freshman midfielder Kate Fleming led the Ducks with four goals, and freshman Lindsay Killian and freshman midfielder Theresa Waldron added three scores. Freshman midfielder Jen May had two goals, and single scores came from freshman attacker Jana Bradley, freshman midfielder Jenny Browne, freshman attacker Erin Gaebe and freshman attacker Lindsay Pittard. Waldron and Gaebe paced the assist column (3), Fowler had two, and Bradley and May had one apiece.

In goal for the Gaels, Katie Augustine suffered the loss while allowing all 19 scores and dropped to 0-6 on the year. Augustine collected eight saves in the game. For Oregon, goalkeeper Louisa Dorsch played the first 46 minutes of the contest and came up with five saves and allowed five goals. Allison O'Brien came in the second half to play the final 14 minutes and had two saves and allowed one goal.

Saint Mary's will return to action on Tuesday, March 22 when the Gaels host Marist University at Saint Mary's Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m.
