Women's Lacrosse Suffers Tough 13-10 Loss

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's lacrosse team rallied late in the first half and early second half, but came up short in a tough 13-10 loss to Ohio on Thursday afternoon at Saint Mary's Stadium.

The Gaels scored five out of the last six goals in the first half and scored two out of the first three goals to start the second half. With the score tied 8-8, the Gaels were then outscored 5-2 over the final 10 minutes of action.

With the loss the Gaels fall to 3-4 overall, while Ohio improved to 2-6 on the season.

Offensively the Gaels were led by Jackie Spencer, who scored three goals and added one assist. Sonja Kapusta had an excellent game, scoring three goals and Kim Reny added two goals and two assists. Chloe Dee and Jen Utley rounded out the scoring for the Gaels with one goal each.

Sara Jo Rodriguez started the game in goal for the first half and recorded three saves and Hilary Gardner recorded six saves in net during the second half.

In the first half, the Gaels were led by Kapusta, who scored two goals. Reny, Dee, Utley and Spencer rounded out the Gaels' balanced scoring in the first half with one goal each.

Saint Mary's ended the opening half by scoring five out of the last six goals to cut the Ohio lead to 7-6.

Saint Mary's returns to action on Tuesday, March 28 when it hosts Harvard at 3:30 p.m. in Saint Mary's Stadium.
