This Week in Lacrosse: The Saint Mary's lacrosse team returns to action on Thursday, April 6 when they face the California Golden Bears. The game, which was originally set to take place at Saint Mary's Stadium, has been moved to Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, CA due to field conditions. The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match-up is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
Scouting the Bears: The California lacrosse team enters Thursday's game with a 4-7 overall record and a 1-1 conference mark. The Bears are currently on a four-game skid that includes losses to Northwestern, James Madison, George Washington, and conference opponent Denver University. Against Denver, California recorded seven goals while giving up 18. They were led by junior Jocelyn Paul who scored three goals in that game. On the season, the Bears are led by juniors Liz Riefsnyder and Laura Cavallo, and sophmore Danni Zuralow, who have each recorded 20 or more points.
Gaels in Conference: Sophomore transfer Chloe Dee has made her presence felt in conference play this season. In the Gaels' four conference games, Dee has recorded seven points on six goals and one assist. Both her seven points and six goals are second on the Gaels for conference play. Dee looks to add to these numbers this weekend against MPSF rival California.
Gaels on the Ground: Sophomore midfielder Maddie Marsh has been ensuring possession for the Gaels. She is currently leading the Gaels having scooped 28 ground balls. She is currently second on the team in both draw controls and caused turnovers with 16 and nine respectively.
Next Week for the Gaels: The Gaels are set to begin their five-game road stretch when they travel to New York to play three games. The Gaels will face Le Moyne on Tuesday, April 11, Sienna on Wednesday, April 12, and Marist on Thursday, April 13.
