Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's College Director of Athletics Mark Orr announced today that Brandon Badgley will not be returning as head coach of the women's lacrosse team for the 2006-07 season. Badgley has served as head coach for the past three years.
"We appreciate the service Brandon has provided to the College and we all wish him the best in the future," said Orr.
Orr said the College was immediately launching a national search for a new head coach."It's time to take the women's lacrosse program in a new direction," he said. "I am confident that we will find the right candidate to lead the program forward."
In three years Badgley recorded a 9-43 overall record and a 1-14 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation mark.
Saint Mary's College adopted a new strategic plan for Athletics in 2004 that called for increasing the resources for all of the school's Division I athletic programs so that they can compete more effectively for conference championships.
"I look forward to the women's lacrosse program being part of the overall resurgence of athletic success at Saint Mary's College," said Orr.
