SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's rowing team claimed three second place finishes and one third place finish at the San Diego City Championships last Saturday at Mission Bay.
"Of course we were disappointed to place second," commented Coach O'Hara, "but we have just completed the hardest training cycle of the year, and will now begin our taper."
The Torero 2V eight boat raced for a second place finish with a time of 7:45.10. San Diego's varsity eight boat also captured second place with a time of 7:39.10. The varsity four boat also competed placing third in a time of 9:34.30. While the novice four boat took second in a time of 8:30.90.
"We expect to see a nice increase in speed over the course of the next three weeks as the athletes recover and peak for the WCC Championship on April 28th," said O'Hara. "We are really looking forward to Miller Cup in two weeks to see how the team performs on a taper."
The rowing team returns to racing action on Sunday, April 23 when they travel to Los Angeles, Calif. to participate in the Miller Cup hosted by UCLA.
