Lake Natoma, CA - On Sunday, October 14 the Saint Mary's women's rowing team participated in the Head of the Port. The Gaels women's rowing team posted a fifth place finish in the collegiate eight race, and the two collegiate four boats posted a fifth and seventh place finish while competing in the same race.
In the collegiate eight races, the boat of coxswain Marrah Galvin and rowers stroke Sierra Timmer, Jen Tyndall, Jordan Bonadio, Johanna Timmer, Jacqie Lindo, Sandra Pichelli, Ariele Elia, Linzey Simonson, the Gaels finished the 5,000-meter race in a time of 18:48 to finish fifth out of 14 entries. The Gaels finished six seconds behind UC Davis and three seconds behind Sacramento State. Cal finished in the top two spots with times of 17:40 and 18:17.
Saint Mary's had two boats entered in the collegiate four race, and posted a fifth and seventh place finish in the 12-boat race. SMC's boat of coxswain Kate Shalvoy, and rowers Kyla Tom, Miranda Ripoli, Linzey Simonson, TiffanyWarner, crossed the finish line for the 5,000-meter race in a time of 21:43. The Gaels' second boat of coxswain Marrah Galvin, and rowers Jennifer Morrison, Taylor Logan-Balian, Kristine Myhre, Kate Marrocco posted a time of 22:08.
Saint Mary's will return to the water on October 21 when the Gaels travel to Boston, MA to compete in the Head of the Charles regatta on the Charles River.
