Women's Rowing Wraps Up Fall Season

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's rowing team raced through rough weather at the Head of the Lake Sunday. The racecourse was shortened due to high winds and choppy waters. Despite the weather the Bulldogs closed out the day with a first, second and third place finish.

The Varsity 8+ boat placed third, trailing second place University of Victoria by 12 seconds. Washington State University earned the victory with a time of 7:02.72, followed by Victoria at 7:04.02 and Gonzaga at 7:16.40.

The Second Varsity 8+ finished in second place, behind only Washington State. The Cougars took the win with a time of 7:09.04, with the Bulldogs following at 7:15.68. The Third Varsity 8+ earned the Zags their lone victory of the day, defeating Washington State for the second time this fall.

Gonzaga finished the course in a time of 7:24.97. The Cougars placed second at 7:26.08 and Victoria rounded out the top three with a time of 7:32.85.

The Head of the Lake was the final regatta for the Bulldog women's crew this fall. The Zags will be back in action March 15 hosting University of British Columbia at Silver Lake in Medical Lake, Wash.
