SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's rowing team just completed their winter training camp in which 31 Varsity and select Novice athletes participated.
The camp consisted of a variety of workouts and workshops intended to address the athletes' most relevant training needs. In addition to erg and water training, the rowers took advantage of sessions in time management, sport nutrition, goal-setting/sport psychology, team dynamics, and yoga.
"The camp was our opportunity to get everything in place for the spring season," commented Head Coach, Joan O'Hara. "It's great to be able to take advantage of time with our athletes when they don't have academics to contend with. We're able to accomplish a lot, and do it in a competitive, but relatively worry-free environment. We had a great couple of weeks of excellent work, and are on track for a very strong spring season!"
The Toreros began their regular in-season training this past Monday, and are looking forward to their first competition, a scrimmage with Orange Coast College and San Diego State on February 17th at home on Mission Bay.
