SAN BRUNO, Calif. - After advancing to the first NCAA Championship berth in program history, the University of San Diego has been selected to win the 2015 West Coast Conference women's rowing championship in a preseason poll of the league's seven head coaches. The defending WCC Champion Toreros earned 35 points and five first place votes, while 2013 WCC Champion Gonzaga University followed closely behind with 32 points and two first place votes for the second place spot.
The University of Portland collected 23 points for third place in the preseason poll, just edging Saint Mary's College in the third spot with 22. Loyola Marymount University (18 points), Creighton University (10 points), and Santa Clara University (7 points) rounded out the poll.
All seven WCC rowing teams are represented on the preseason All-West Coast Conference team, led by San Diego with four selections, Gonzaga with three, and the remaining five schools with two apiece.
