April 21, 2006

Winding down her second year as the head coach of the women's rowing team, Joan O'Hara is looking to capture the WCC Championship in two weeks, the one title USD has not held in the history of the rowing program.

At the beginning of the season, the Toreros posted the fastest time at the WCC Challenge (6:40.2) beating conference opponents Gonzaga, Saint Mary's, Loyola Marymount, and Santa Clara.

USD will be traveling this upcoming weekend to compete in the Miller Cup hosted by the No. 15 UCLA Bruins in Marina del Rey, Calif. The Toreros have captured the Miller Cup four times in the history of the rowing program, the last time being in 2000. This year, San Diego will face off against the host, UCLA, San Diego State University, Loyola Marymount, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Irvine.

This is the second time this season San Diego will face LMU this upcoming weekend competing against their Varsity 8, the JV 8, and the Varsity 4 teams. Races begin at 7 a.m. followed by the finals starting at 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 23.
