Lake Natoma - In the 2006 Pacific-10 Conference rowing Championships, the Saint Mary's women's rowing team posted a 12th place finish in the varsity eight competition. SMC posted a sixth place finish in the petite final on Sunday afternoon from Lake Natoma in Sacramento, CA.
Saint Mary's opened the day in the morning by posting a sixth place finish in the first heat of the women's varsity eight competition. Saint Mary's pulled a time of 6:54.7 and finished 26 second behind Pac-10 Champion California, which pulled a time of 6:28.8 in the heat race.
Washington (6:35.0) and UCLA (6:37.7) finished second and third in the heat race, and Sacramento State and Loyola Marymount came in ahead of the Gaels with times of 6:46.0 and 6:49.5, respectively.
In the petite final of the varsity eight competition, Saint Mary's finished in sixth place for a 12th place finish overall. The Gaels, who were stirred by senior coxswain Amy Bellman, posted a time of 6:55.1. The boat for SMC consisted of Lindsey Anderson, Dana Smith, Michelle Grima, Sandra Pichelli, Johanna Timmer, Sierra Timmer, Janelle Silva, and Brittney Cunningham.
The Pac-10 Championships wraps up the 2005-06 season for the Gaels.
