SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University senior women's rower Kari Durgan has been named to the ESPN The Magazine District VIII All-Academic At-Large first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Durgan, a stroke from Vancouver, Wash., is the third Bulldog women's rower to receive District VIII all-academic honors, joining Krisit Aamodt who was a first-team selection in 2004 and Vicki Olson who was a second-team pick in 2001. Durgan carries a 3.84 GPA in English.

She helped the Bulldogs finish fourth in the Petite Final of the Pacific-10 Conference Championships, third at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships and second at the West Coast Conference Championships this season.

Durgan also received All-WIRA first-team honors, was an All-WCC selection and is a two-time member of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association West Region Scholar Athlete team.

Her name will now go on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
