SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's novice crew coach Melissa Flint has been named the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association West Regional Assistant Coach of the Year as announced by the CRCA. Flint helped coach the Bulldogs novice crew to its most successful season to date winning championships at the West Coast Conference championships, WIRA championships and Pacific-10 Conference championships this season. The team finished the season undefeated as Flint served her first season as a novice women's coach at Gonzaga. A 2002 graduate of Oregon State University, Flint is in her third year on the Bulldogs staff, the first two serving as an assistant coach with the varsity and junior varsity boats.
Other regional winners were Ohio State's Robbie Tenenbaum in the Central Region, Texas' Caroline King in the South Region, Princeton's Helen Betencourt in the Mid-Atlantic Region and Harvard's Cory Bosworth in the New England Region.
