MALIBU, Calif. - Ohio State University (2-0-1) handed the University of San Diego women's soccer team (2-1-0) their first loss of the season, 4-1, in the first match of the Pepperdine Tournament Friday afternoon.
The Buckeyes struck first as they tallied a goal in the 24th minute of play when Lisa Collison was able to get one by USD netmider Brittany Cameron on a penalty kick.
OSU then added a second goal at the 32:47 mark as Collison scored her second goal of the match when she redirected a cross from Lara Dickenmann.
The Toreros responded with their only goal of the match at the 32:57 mark. Freshman Hallie Huston was able to ski a pass into the center of the goal box and Leigh Ann Robinson was there to corral the pass and punch the ball into the back of the net from six yards out to cut the lead in half.
It was all OSU from there on as they scored two more goals late in the second half to put the match at its final of 4-1.
The Toreros outshot the Buckeyes 14-11 and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Cameron suffered the loss for USD allowing four goals while recording five saves. OSU goalkeeper Lauren Robertson picked up the win allowing one goal and recording three saves.
The Toreros will return to action on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. when they close out play in the Pepperdine Tournament against the University of Dayton.
