Zags Fall to Arizona 1-0

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Gonzaga University women's soccer team fell to the University Arizona 1-0 Friday night as part of the Four Points Sheraton Cats' Classic.

The loss was the first of the season for the Bulldogs, who fell to 3-1-1.

Arizona's (3-2-0 overall) London King scored the lone goal of the game at the 29:15 mark, when she connected with a pass through the middle by Kaity Heath.

The Bulldogs were unable to capture the victory, despite holding an advantage on both shots and corner kicks. GU held the 13-12 advantage for shots, as well as the 4-2 advantage for corner kicks, including a 3-1 advantage in the second quarter.

Nanda McCormick and Christine Soma led Gonzaga with three shots a piece.

Jessie Thalman earned her first loss of the season allowing the lone goal while earning four saves. Wildcat goalkeeper Chelsea McIntyre earned five saves en route to the shutout.

The Zags will return to action Sunday at 11 a.m. when they play Pacific on the final day of the classic.
