TUCSON, Ariz. - - The Gonzaga University women's soccer team dropped its second match in a row Sunday when it fell to undefeated University of the Pacific 1-0. The match came on the final day of the Four Points Sheraton Cats' Classic hosted by the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz.
Gonzaga dropped to 3-2-1 for the season with the loss. The match also marked the first time since September 9 and 11 of the 2005 season that the Zags have fallen in consecutive matches.
The lone goal of the game was an unassisted goal by Pacific's (5-0-1) Laura King at the 28th minute.
Freshman Taylor Hall led the Bulldogs with four shots, including one shot on goal. Jamie Blanche registered two shots for GU, while Lauren Zuckerman and Christine Soma each earned one shot. Overall, the Zags were out shot 21-8 but held a 7-5 advantage for corner kicks.
GU's goalkeeper freshman Jessie Thalman posted eight saves in the loss, while her counterpart, Pacific's Jamie Souza, earned her sixth shut out of the season. With the clean sheet over GU, the Tigers have yet to surrender a goal this season.
The Bulldogs look return to action Friday when they open a two match home stand at Martin Field. GU will host the University of Oregon Friday at 3 p.m. before hosting Utah Valley State College Sunday at 1 p.m.
