SPOKANE, Wash. - - The Gonzaga University women's soccer team fell to the University of Oregon 1-0 Friday at Martin Field. The loss snapped the Zags' five-game win streak when playing at home.
The match remained scoreless until the 85:56 mark when Oregon's (3-3-0 overall) Nicole Garbin scored the lone game of the afternoon. Garbin scored after breaking loose just inside the midfield to take on Gonzaga (3-3-1 overall) goalkeeper Jessie Thalman in a one-on-one situation. Garbin's shot slid through Thalman's fingertips on the way to finding the back of the net.
Thalman registered seven saves in the match including a beautiful diving save at the 40:25 mark off of a shot from Garbin. Zaler registered three saves for the Ducks.
Sarah Hall led the Bulldogs with three shots, including a shot off of a free kick in the 35th minute that was stopped by the Ducks' goalkeeper Emily Zaler. Hall also barely missed a goal at the 52:48 mark when she blasted a ball that sailed inches high of the net.
The Bulldogs look to break their three-game losing streak when they host Utah Valley State Sunday at Martin Field. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
