USF Women's Soccer Falls to Utah State, 1-0

Logan, UT - On a chilly and overcast day in Logan, USF fell to Utah State 1-0 in non-conference soccer action on Monday afternoon. The Dons (4-8-1) out shot the Aggies (5-6-0) 17-13, but couldn't convert on scoring opportunities in the tight and intense match.

After a scoreless first half, Utah State got on the board at 57:15 when senior midfielder Charity Weston got her left foot on the ball six yards out. Freshman forward Erin Salmon and senior midfielder Sierra Smith were credited with the assists.

USF's shot leader, senior forward Chelsea Hunt had eight shots on the day, bringing her season total to 47. Also getting foot on the ball were freshman midfielder Jenny Jarvie and freshman forward Samantha Brand, who each had two shots, and junior midfielder Lauren Tweet and sophomore defender Jessica Duty, who had one shot a piece in the match.

Dons sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Pohle had three saves.

USF returns to action on Saturday, October 8 against Saint Mary's. The Dons opening West Coast Conference match is slated for 3:00 PM in Moraga, CA.
