FRESNO, CALIF.- Fresno State midfielder Ali Sill followed up a number of rebounds within the box to score a goal in the 45th minute and send the Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory over San Francisco Sunday afternoon. The scoreless loss was the third straight for the Dons , who close out their non-conference schedule with a record of 0-8-3. Fresno State, the 2006 WAC regular season champion, evened it's record at 5-5.
The Bulldogs played stingy defense all day holding USF to only six shots, while attempting 16. Fresno State goalkeeper Kaity Revel had to just make one save between the pipes. Despite the loss, USF junior goalkeeper Katie Hodgson continued her good play of late making eight saves in her 90-minutes of work.
Sill totaled a match-high five shots, four on goal, during the match. FSU defender Andrea Alires was close behind with a four shots, all on goal. For USF, junior midfielder Katherine Kimure and senior forward Fiona O'Sullivan led with two shots a piece.
San Francisco opens up West Coast Conference play next Sunday at Negoesco Field against Saint Mary's.
