SAN FRANCISCO - No. 6 Portland (10-3-0, 3-0-0 WCC) gave the San Francisco Dons (2-9-3, 2-1-0 WCC) a jolt, topping USF 6-0 Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Field. In a contest of the two teams tied on top of the WCC standings at kickoff, the Pilots made their case loud and clear for this season's conference title out-shooting USF 21-6.
Portland's Kendra Chandhoke recorded a hat trick, scoring goals in the seventh, 55th and 62nd minutes. For the season, Chandhoke now has a team-high seven goals. Portland also had goals from Angie Woznuk at 23:19, Sophie Schmidt at 70:18 and Michelle Enyeart at 83:33.
Chandhoke had a match-high six shots. Junior midfielder Katherine Kimure led the Dons with two.
Pilots' Kelsey Davis and USF junior Katie Hodgson both had five saves on the day. Hodgson's record falls to 2-8-3, while Davis is now 7-2-0.
"I would like to extend a warm congratulations to a very talented Portland team," Head Coach Mark Carr said. "We didn't show up, compete or display any of the things that made us successful against Gonzaga. It's disappointing but I know this group will bounce back for next weekend."
San Francisco will play at Pepperdine on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT.
DONS' NOTES - USF is now 0-19-1 all-time versus the Portland... the six goals given up Sunday are the most by USF this season... the Pilots had eight corner kicks to USF's three.
