FULLERTON, Calif. - Junior striker Amy Epsten's goal in the 71st minute lifted the 13th-ranked University of San Diego women's soccer team to 1-0 win over host Cal State Fullerton Sunday evening in a non-conference match at Titan Stadium.
With the win the Toreros improve to 14-2-3 overall and have now won three consecutive matches. With the loss, the Titans fall to 11-7-1 overall
With time winding down in the match, freshman defender Erika Wesley sent a cross to Epsten, who in turn corralled the ball and rocketed off a shot into the back of the net to give USD the win. This gives Epsten 11 goals on the season, a personal best for the junior from San Diego.
The Titans outshot the Toreros 11-7, but the Toreros held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Brittany Cameron picked up her ninth shutout in goal on the season for the Toreros as she allowed no goals and recorded one save in the win. Her counterpart, Shayla Sabin, was saddled with the loss for the Titans as she allowed one goal and recorded one save.
The Toreros will return to action in their regular-season finale on Saturday evening with a 7 p.m. West Coast Conference against the University of San Francisco match at USD's Torero Stadium.
