Epsten's Two Goals Send Dons To Season Closing Loss

SAN DIEGO - San Francisco (2-13-3, 2-5-0 WCC) closed out the 2007 season with a 3-0 loss to No. 12 San Diego (15-2-3, 5-1-1) Saturday evening. Senior Fiona O'Sullivan, playing in her final match for the Dons, had a team best two shots.

San Diego's Amy Epsten scored two of the Toreros goals. The first came in the 10th minute as Natalie Vinti's free kick from 45 yards found Epsten for a shot on the left side of the net. In the 20th minute, a shot by Jen Mello was blocked but rebounded to Epsten for the score. Epsten finished the season with a team-high 14 net finders.

Vanessa Vella registered San Diego's third goal at 79:27 in an unassisted rocket to the back of the goal.

In total, USF had five shots for the match. Along with O'Sullivan's attempts, senior Kara Breithaupt, sophomore Jenny Jarvie and freshman Kelsey Shibuya each had one.

San Diego's Leigh Ann Robinson led all players with four shots. Epsten had three.

Junior goalkeeper Katie Hodgson made two saves, while the Toreros Karen Cook made three saves.
