Alyssa Sobolik Added to Coachin Staff

April 4, 2007

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego head women's soccer coach Ada Greenwood has announced the hiring of former Santa Clara University standout Alyssa Sobolik to his coaching staff for the 2007 season.

Sobolik joins USD after a stand-out career playing for West Coast Conference rival Santa Clara. She is a 2005 graduate of SCU and was the starting goalkeeper of the 2001 National Champion Broncos team, in which she shut out the high-powered North Carolina offense. In that match she recorded two saves in a 1-0 victory. For her career, she tallied 109 saves and had a career goals-against-average of 0.88. She played in 4,177 minutes and posted a career record of 33-8-5 with 14 shutouts.

Sobolik will be responsible for working with the USD goalkeepers and she has plenty of experience in doing this. She has been working as a personal goalkeeper trainer for the year, working closely with the Danville Mustang Soccer Club team. She has also been working with the SCU summer camps instructing youth soccer players on the fundamentals of playing soccer.
