Over 100 People Return For Women's Soccer Alumni Day

April 26, 2007

Moraga, CA -On Saturday, April 21, the Saint Mary's women's soccer program hosted an alumni day that drew more than 60 alums and over 130 people as the past women's soccer players brought family members with them. The event was a great opportunity to bring the alumni back to the campus to celebrate the history of women's soccer at Saint Mary's.

"I enjoyed spending some quality time with our alumni, and hearing more about the special history we have here with our women's soccer program," said head women's soccer coach Kelly Lindsey. " Our alumni are a very special group of women, and I look forward to continuing to build this relationship that will bring the past, present, and future together."

Alumni donned the shots "Still Got It" for Saturday's tournament.

Saint Mary's hosted a 7 v. 7 tournament format with the alumni forming four teams from different eras of the program's history and the current roster forming the fifth team. The current players won the tournament, but the first generations of player, from the mid 80s through the early 90s, put up a good fight. After watching the teams play, Lindsey said, "they're some oldies but goodies from this program's history."

A tailgate followed the conclusion of the tournament and the entire group took one big picture to commemorate the days activities Lindsey added, "There were a lot of stories told over the weekend, and I have an even better appreciation for where this program has come from and where we need to get it to. It was awesome to see a large number family and friends of the women's soccer program that that returned for the day"
