Women's Soccer Reports to Training Camp

Aug. 9, 2006

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's soccer team reports to training camp today. The 10 returning players and 11 newcomers are set to begin the season under new head coach Kelly Lindsey.

"It's an exciting time in Saint Mary's women's soccer" head coach Kelly Lindsey said. "It's great to have the team back on campus. They are energized and ready to work hard. We are all excited about what the future holds for this program and we are eager to get on the field and develop our system."

Lindsey was hired as head coach in December of 2005. Prior to being named head coach of the Gaels, Lindsey worked as an assistant coach for the University of Texas and Colorado University. Lindsey then added Monica Geraldo and Ed Moore to work with the team as Assistant Coaches.

Among the top returnees for the Gaels are sophomores Stefani Rocco and Nikki Schrey. Rocco and Schrey are coming off of impressive freshman campaigns in which both players earned All-West Coast Conference accolades. Rocco was an important piece to the Gaels success last season; notching a team high four assists as a midfielder. Schrey led the Gaels in points and goals with 15 and six, respectively. The sophomore forward looks to have another strong year as a staple of the Gael offense.

The Gaels will finish up camp in time for the season opener on Friday, August 25. The Gaels will host Long Island University at 4:30 p.m. from Saint Mary's Stadium.
