Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's soccer team garnered its second No. 20 2006 preseason rank, this time by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), it was announced Tuesday.
Pepperdine finished with a 15-4-3 record last season, finishing fourth in the West Coast Conference (WCC). The Waves ultimately advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament where it lost to North Carolina.
Pepperdine is one of three WCC schools ranked in the Top 25 with defending national champion Portland taking the top spot, while Santa Clara earned a No. 7 rank.
The Waves, who were picked fourth in the WCC coaches preseason poll, return 21 letterwinners, including seven starters. The Waves are led by seniors Lindsey Redlin, Jennifer Brewer, Courtney Nelson, Lauren Treinen, Caitlin Mitchell and Loretta Younkin.
Pepperdine kicks off its 2006 season on Friday, August 25 when the Waves face Idaho in a 3 p.m. match at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in Malibu, Calif.
