Aug. 18, 2006

Hours after being named to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List, University of Portland soccer players Stephanie Lopez, Megan Rapinoe and Angie Woznuk have been earned preseason All-America honors from Soccer America magazine.

Lopez and Rapinoe also earned Soccer Buzz preseason honors, giving them unanimous preseason honors.

The three Pilots on the Soccer America 22-player preseason All-America list were the most of any program. UCLA (Val Henderson and Danesha Adams) and Notre Dame (Jen Buczowski and Kerri Hanks) were the other two schools with more than one representative.

The Pilots open the 2006 regular season against the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday, Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. (Pacific). Portland's home opener will be on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. against Baylor, at which time the 2005 national champions will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
