Three WCC women's soccer teams nationally ranked

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Three West Coast Conference teams are ranked in the national Top 25, as the 2012 campaign is underway. Another, BYU, is sitting on the doorstep of the national poll.


  • Three West Coast Conference teams are ranked in this week's NSCAA Top 25 poll: Pepperdine (8), Portland (18), and Santa Clara (25). In addition, BYU is receiving votes.

  • In a preseason poll, West Coast Conference head coaches have selected Santa Clara to win the 2012 WCC title. The Broncos play their first home match on Sunday afternoon against UC Riverside.

  • A record 15 WCC women's soccer matches will be televised nationally during the 2012 season. View a complete list via the schedule above.

  • The 2011 season marked the first time since 2005 that the WCC had four teams compete for the College Cup.

  • Portland's Ellen Parker is the first WCC Player of the Week for 2012. Parker scored the lone goal in the Pilots' 1-0 victory over then-No. 4 North Carolina.
