Women's Soccer Cracks Into Top-25

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's soccer team has returned to the top-25, as they check in at No. 24 in the latest Soccer Times top-25 poll.

The Toreros began their 2007 campaign in stylish fashion, picking up the tournament championship at the WCC/ACC Challenge. USD first pulled off an 2-1 upset win over No. 19 Wake Forest, thanks to freshman Ashleigh Shoughro's first collegiate goal in the 81st minute. Amy Epsten tallied the first USD goal of the season in the 25th minute of the match to give USD the early edge. On Sunday, the Toreros battled No. 22 Duke University to a scoreless draw. In the match, the Toreros had several opportunities to score, but were unable to get the ball into the back of the net. Junior goalkeeper Brittany Cameron picked up her first shutout of the season in the tie, allowing no goals and recording three saves.

The Toreros will return to action on Friday as they head to Dayton, Ohio to take on the University of Dayton in a 4:30 p.m. match.
