Pepperdine leads three WCC teams in NSCAA Top 25

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --The West Coast Conference had another strong week on the pitch, picking up a pair of victories over Pac-12 opponents. The WCC is now 6-0-4 against the Pac-12 this season.


  • The West Coast Conference earned three more victories over the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences last week on the pitch. For the season, the WCC is 6-0-4 against the Pac 12 and 2-1-0 against the Big Ten.

  • Saint Mary's sophomore Jordan Marada was named the WCC Player of the Week on Monday. Watch video with SMC head coach Kai Edwards discussing Marada above.

  • Three WCC teams are ranked in the Sept. 6 NSCAA top 25 coaches poll.

  • With a tie against No. 4 UCLA and a win over 2010 NCAA tournament participant Michigan, Pepperdine jumped eleven spots in this week's NSCAA top 25, up to No. 13.

  • Gonzaga and BYU each ran their winning streaks to three matches. The Bulldogs blanked Weber State in GU's home opener, while BYU notched victories at Idaho State, and home wins over Cal State Fullerton and Arizona.

  • Pepperdine freshman Lynn Williams has wasted little time making an impact in Malibu. Williams lead the WCC with ten points, and is tied for the top spot in the conference with four goals.

  • The WCC boasts four teams that participated in the 2010 NCAA Tournament: Portland, San Diego, Santa Clara, and BYU.
