WCC teams to play four matches vs. NSCAA top five this week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --West Coast Conference women's soccer teams will continue to face stiff competition in the coming week. WCC teams will play four matches against this week's NSCAA top five.

WCC QUICK HITS

  • Two WCC teams, No. 9 Pepperdine and No. 19 Santa Clara, remain unbeaten. The Waves have a pair of road contests this week and Santa Clara hosts No. 1 Stanford.

  • Pepperdine senior F Laura Cole is the WCC Player of the Week.

  • Loyola Marymount sophomore GK Brittany Jagger registered four saves against SMU Sunday en route to her fourth shutout of the season. Jagger's 0.27 GAA is tops in the conference.

  • Portland senior F Danielle Foxhoven scored twice, including the game-winner, as the Pilots knocked off No. 17 Oregon State in overtime. Foxhoven's five tallies are tied for second-most in the WCC.

  • Saint Mary's won its own tournament, topping VCU and Utah, with junior F Christina Tognetti earning tournament MVP honors. The Gaels are now 6-0 at home.

  • Gonzaga junior F Emma Dolcetti scored twice as the Bulldogs blanked Eastern Washington 4-0 on the road. It was the Zags' fourth straight victory, marking their longest winning streak in four seasons.

  • BYU senior GK McKinzie Olson has 237 career saves, and needs only 24 more to become BYU's all-time leader.

  • The WCC boasts four teams that participated in the 2010 NCAA Tournament: Portland, San Diego, Santa Clara, and BYU.
