Malibu, Calif. - After two top performances in net over the weekend, Pepperdine goalkeeper Kayla Stolte was named the West Coast Conference (WCC) "Player of the Week," the conference announced Monday.
The sophomore helped lead the Waves to two victories over the weekend, including a 3-1 upset of No. 18 Kansas and a 1-0 shutout over Arizona State. Stolte, a Santee, Calif. native, recorded five saves against the Jayhawks and four saves against the Sun Devils as she picked up her second solo career shutout.
Holding a 0.64 goals-against-average, Stolte is 5-1-1 on the season and has recorded 28 saves in the Waves' eight matches.
It marked the first time in her career that the Wave earned the WCC honor and is the first Pepperdine player to receive the accolade this season.
