Three WCC teams reside in Top 20

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Three West Coast Conference teams are ranked in the national Top 20, with BYU leading the way with a No. 12 national ranking. The Cougars are joined in the NSCAA Top 25 by Portland (15) and Pepperdine (20). WCC preseason favorite Santa Clara is receiving votes.


  • In the latest NCAA statistics (released 9/17), three West Coast Conference student-athletes rank in the top ten nationally in assists: Pepperdine's Anisa Guajardo is third (7), and BYU's Carlee Payne Holmoe and Pepperdine's Michelle Pao are tied for eighth with six assists each.

  • San Francisco freshman GK Madalyn Schiffel has played every minute in net so far this season. She ranks seventh nationally with 62 saves.

  • Portland junior forward Amanda Frisbie is the WCC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Frisbie netted a pair of goals as the Pilots earned a 3-2 victory at USC.

  • A record 15 WCC women's soccer matches will be televised nationally this season, including BYU's match at Oregon on Monday night, which can be seen on Pac-12 Networks.

  • West Coast Conference members have made 65 NCAA Tournament appearances, 19 Final Four appearances, and have won three national titles (Santa Clara in 2001, Portland in 2002, 2005).
