Light week in the WCC as conference play looms

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --West Coast Conference women's soccer teams continued their march towards the conference season, which gets underway next week. As a result, it's a light week on the WCC docket.


  • Pepperdine remains the only unbeaten team in the WCC, with an 8-0-4 overall record. The Waves lead the West Coast Conference in goals per match (2.25) and goals against average (0.62).

  • Six West Coast Conference teams are ranked in the NSCAA West Region Top Ten this week.

  • Santa Clara sophomore midfielder Julie Johnston is this week's WCC Player of the Week. Click here for the full release.

  • Saint Mary's junior forward Christina Tognetti led Saint Mary's to a 3-0 win over San Jose State on Sunday with a goal and an assist. The Gaels are a perfect 7-0-0 at home this season.

  • Gonzaga freshman Cricket Harber scored her first collegiate goal and added an assist in the Zags' 3-0 blanking of Idaho.

  • Pepperdine junior Anisa Guajardo has a propensity for performing in the clutch. She has scored the game-winning goal three times this season, and has scored in three straight.

  • Pepperdine freshman Lynn Williams leads the WCC and ranks eighth nationally with seven assists in 2011.

  • Santa Clara has faced five Pac-12 opponents this season, posting a 2-1-2 record and earning 8 points.
