SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Junior forward Amy Epsten was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after helping lead the 11th-ranked University of San Diego women's soccer team to a upset win over, the then No. 5, Santa Clara University this past week.
Epsten, a San Diego native, tallied her team-leading seventh goal of the season, and it was a huge one. Senior midfielder Leigh Ann Robinson took control of the ball just near midfield, and sent a lead pass to Epsten, who in turn burned past the SCU defender for a one-on-one situation with the Broncos goalkeeper, and was able to hit a laser strike into the back of the net to give USD the win in the 41st minute of action. On the season, Epsten has tallied seven goals and added in one assist for a team-leading 15 points.
Epsten and the Toreros will return to action on Friday as they host Loyola Marymount in a 5 p.m. match at USD's Torero Stadium.
