USD Falls To Host Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. - The University of San Diego softball team fell to tournament host Fresno State University Bulldogs Saturday afternoon 8-0 as the game was called off after five innings due to inclement weather.  With the loss, the Toreros move to .500 and a 10-10 overall record. 


Heavy rains delayed the game for 1:18 in the fourth inning.  Fresno State scored four runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning, and one run in the fifth inning before the clouds rolled in again as the game was called for good at 8-0.


San Diego recorded two hits offensively.  Junior Virginia Fritsch recorded a single through the left side in the fourth inning.  Senior Ashlee Nunes recorded a single in the fifth inning.


Erin Harmonson records the loss defensively for San Diego moving to 6-5 overall. 


San Diego's sixth and final game against DePaul University scheduled for Sunday at 9:00 a.m. has been canceled.  The Toreros will host Quinnipiac University at home on Thursday, March 16 starting at 2:00 p.m. at the USD softball complex.
