STILLWATER, Okla. - The University of San Diego fell Friday night to the Oklahoma State University Cowgirls (16-16), 8-2 on their first of five road games.
The Toreros (12-11) were unable to prevent runs from scoring early as they Cowgirls posted one run in the first inning, four runs in the second inning, and three runs in the fifth inning.
San Diego was able to put some runs on the board in the top of the fifth inning when, with one out, Stacy Compton reached on a Cowgirl Error. Danielle Duhart pinch ran for Compton and moved to second when Kaslin Tucker reached on another error by Oklahoma State. Valenzuela followed with a double advancing tucker to third and scoring Duhart cutting the lead to seven. Casciola hit a sacrifice fly moving Valenzuela to third and sending Tucker home. However the inning ended when Kathleen Bonja grounded out to third base.
The Toreros continue their road trip with a double header against Oklahoma State on Saturday, March 17 at Cowgirl Stadium.
