MORAGA, CA - The University of San Diego softball team (16-16, 4-2 PCSC) tallied wins in both games of a Pacific Coast Softball Conference doubleheader against the Saint Mary's Gaels Friday afternoon from Cottrell Field. The Toreros won 6-1 in the first game before shutting-out Saint Mary's 8-0 in five innings in game two. Saint Mary's moves to 4-33 on the season and 0-6 in PCSC play.
In game one, the Toreros out-hit the Gaels 9-5 as Saint Mary's hung on holding the score at 3-1 until USD rallied for two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to take it with a 6-1 decision.
In game two, Saint Mary's was shut-out 8-0 in five innings while San Diego tallied 11 hits including Alicia Massei's three run homer in the top of the fifth. The Torero's Christina Haake earned the win, throwing four innings giving up just one hit and fanning four.
San Diego will return to action tomorrow when they wrap-up the four game series against Saint Mary's with another PCSC doubleheader. The first pitch of game one is slated for Noon from Cottrell Field.
