SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The University of San Diego softball team (22-24, 6-10 PCSC) split day two against the Sacramento State University Hornets losing game one 7-1 and winning game two 3-1.
The Toreros picked up a win in game two defeating the Hornets 3-1. The Hornets scored their lone run in the fourth inning. USD scored in the first inning as Kathleen Bonja hit a homerun to take an early lead. USD scored in the fourth inning to retake the lead 2-1, and again in the fifth sealing the victory.
The Toreros fell in game one 7-1. The lone run for USD came from Bonja again as she hit her second homerun of the day which came in the sixth inning.
Offensively for USD, Bonja hit a combined 4-for-6 on the afternoon with two homeruns, two RBI, and two runs scored. Virginia Fritsch hit a combined 3-for-6 with one RBI. Jennifer Ellenbeck hit 2-for-6 with one double and one run scored.
The Toreros return home to the USD softball complex for their final homestand against the Portland State University Vikings. The first doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday, May 5 beginning at noon.
