Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's softball has tripled their coaching staff over the past six months, as head coach Jessica Hanaseth has hired two assistants, Keith Berg and Lizzy Hagen. Hanaseth brought Berg in at the start of the school year, while Hagen is the most recent addition to the staff.
Hagen joins the Gaels coaching staff for the 2008 season, after a successful career at the University of Pacific. Hagen is fresh off the field after graduating in 2007, and her duties will include working with the infield, hitting and game day management. Off the field Hagen will assist with recruiting and travel coordination.
While playing for the Tigers Hagen competed at both shortstop and second base. After playing her first two years at second base Hagen transitioned to shortstop. At shortstop Hagen quickly established herself as one of the top defensive shortstops in the country. Following both her senior and junior seasons Hagen garnered All-Big West Honors.
Hagen recorded 48 hits during the regular season of her senior year, including seven home runs. With runners on base, Hagen did not disappoint as she knocked in a career-high 30 runs her senior year. As a key component of the Tiger's squad Hagen and Pacific were granted a NCAA appearance during her fourth and final season, beating Mississippi State in the first round and falling to eventual champion Arizona in the regional championship.
Hagen is a native of Orange County, CA where she attended Rosary High School. Hagen graduated from Pacific in 2007; earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
