Briefly... The LMU softball team continues its challenging non-conference schedule this week with seven games over the next six days. The Lions open the week with a single game at UCLA before hosting UC Riverside at Smith Field for a doubleheader on Wednesday. LMU will head down to San Diego to play in the USD Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, facing Memphis, UTEP and UC Riverside again.

A Look Back... The Lions were 3-4 last week against the toughest stretch of their schedule. After dropping a doubleheader to Hawaii, LMU went 3-2 at the Palm Springs Classic, recording wins over BYU, Long Island and Maryland.
A Look At The Lions... LMU is 12-7 so far this season. The Lions are led offensively by senior Margo Pineda, who is batting .471 with 13 RBI, two home runs, four doubles, a triple and leads the team with 15 runs. Senior transfer Kylie Conroy is hitting .412 with a team-high six home runs and 20 RBI. In the circle, Melissa Dykema has the team's best ERA and has pitched seven complete games. She is 8-3 with 53 strikeouts in 67.1 innings pitched. Tiffany Pagano leads the team in strikeouts with 61 in 45.2 innings of work.
A Look At The Opponents...
UCLA... The Bruins are 10-5 on the season and ranked No. 12 in last week's poll. LMU and UCLA played two common opponents at last week's tournament, with both teams falling to Tennessee and defeating Maryland. UCLA is led by Krista Colburn who is batting .457 with two home runs.
UC Riverside... The Highlanders are 6-7 overall. UCR has played four games against PCSC teams this season, going 1-3 in those games. At the plate, Kristie Martinez leads the team with a .450 average, and Marissa Alvidrez is hitting .448 with 10 RBI. In the circle, Stephanie Marshall has the team's top ERA at 3.79.
Memphis... The Tigers are 8-6 on the season and have won three of their last four games. Leandra Hines leads the team overall, hittin g.400 with six runs scored. Heather Mott has four home runs to lead the team.UTEP... The Miners and Lions will meet twice this weekend. It's also the second time this year that the teams will face each other. They met at the New Mexico State tournament two weeks ago with the Lions recording an 11-0 win in six innings. UTEP has won five straight games to improve to 13-5 on the season. Ashley Ellis and Amber Bennett lead the team at the plate. Ellis has a .472 batting average with 22 RBI, while Ellis has five home runs and a .446 average. UTEP has hit 26 home runs this season while allowing 10. Nichole Tunget leads the team with a 5-1 record and 48 strikeouts in 43.1 innings.
Looking Ahead... The Lions get a brief break next week, only playing on Friday and Saturday. LMU will host a two-day tournament starting on Friday, March 9th.
