LOS ANGELES, CA - Sophomore Tiffany Pagano was named the PCSC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announed today. Pagano was untouchable in her two starts against Sacramento State, allowing just three hits in 14.0 innings with 21 strikeouts and no walks.
In Pagano's first start of the weekend, she pitched a gem, allowing just one hit in 7.0 innings of work. She struck out 12 and walked none. The only hit of the game came to the game's leadoff batter, and she did not allow a hit for the rest of the game.
Her day two performance was just as impressive. She allowed just two hits in the game, and did not allow a base runner after the second inning. She retired the last 17 batters of the game, recording nine strikeouts and again, did not walk a batter. The Hornets came into the weekend as the top hitting team in the conference.
The 2005 PCSC Pitcher of the Year finished the weekend with 3.0 innings of relief in the series finale, and allowed her first walk and first runs of the weekend. It is the fifth time in her career that Pagano has earned PCSC Pitcher of the Week honors.
