LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Freshman Christine Foley has been named the PCSC Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Foley hit .615 last week to lead the Lions to a 3-1 series win over Sacramento State. She drove in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning in LMU's win on Monday, and scored the first run of every game of the tripleheader on Sunday. She increased her batting average to .415, second in the conference.
Foley had three multi-hit games, starting the weekend with a 3-for-3 performance in game one of the series. She hit a double and scored a run. In game two, she was 2-for-3 with another double. It was her 16th of the season, tying the LMU single season record for doubles.
In game three, she was 1-for-3 and scored the first run of the game. Game four on Monday was when Foley proved to be most valuable. Instead of scoring the game's first run, she drove in the first run. She was 2-for-4 in the game with three RBI. The last two RBI were the most important. With the Lions down 6-5, Foley's two-RBI hit gave the Lions the lead for good to win 7-6.
Foley was previously named PCSC Player of the Week on February 20th. This week she raised her batting average from .393 to .415 and is now second in the PCSC behind teammate Margo Pineda.
The Lions return to Smith Field this weekend to host defending PCSC champions Portland State. Doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to begin at 11:00am.
