Rain has continued to interfere with LMU's schedule, as the Lions were only able to play one game last weekend. The team is hoping that the rain will stay away this weekend in Moraga as the Lions will take on Saint Mary's in a four game conference series.

Lions in the PCSC Rankings
A look at the PCSC statistics has some names familiar to Lion fans. Freshman outfielder Hillaree Bennett is at the top of several categories- slugging percentage (.766), on base percentage (.562), home runs (10) and walks (33). In addition, she is second in the conference in batting average at .394. Freshman Kirsten Slouber is in the top 5 of several hitting categories as well- 5th in batting average (.355), 2nd in runs scored (29), 4th in hits (43) and 3rd in at-bats (121). On the pitching side, Tiffany Pagano's name is found in several places in the top 5. She leads the conference in ERA (1.60), strikeouts (160), appearances (23) and games started (20). In addition, she is second in the conference in wins (11), innings pitched (131.0) and opposing batting average (.187).

April Showers Bring May Makeup Games
LMU and Portland State were only able to play one of the scheduled four games last weekend. The two teams will play the remaining three games if they will play a factor in deciding the conference champion on the weekend of May 12th and 13th.

Walk this Way
Two weeks ago against Sacramento State, freshman outfielder Hillaree Bennett was officially 1-for-3 at the plate. However, she was walked 12 times over four games to bring her walk total to 33 for the season. Bennett walked in every single at-bat against Sac State pitcher Cassie Cervantes for the weekend- eight times. She needs just one more walk to tie the LMU single season record for walks of 34 set last year by Danielle Kaminaka. She is currently ranked 5th in the nation in walks per game at 0.87. In addition, her slugging percentage of 0.766 is 30th in the nation.

This Week's Opponent
The Gaels have struggled this season and have started the conference slate with a 0-8 record. For the year, they are 4-35. Bronwyn Russell is a bright spot for SMC, leading the team in hitting with a .389 batting average. She also has seven doubles on the year. As a team, the Gaels are hitting .236 with a 5.45 ERA. Chelsea Loftis has the team's lowest ERA at 4.06 in 62.0 innings of work.

LMU vs. Saint Mary's - A Look Back
The Gaels have been no match for the Lions in recent history. Since PCSC began in 2003, LMU has a 10-1 record over Saint Mary's. Last year, LMU swept the Gaels in a four game series at home. LMU has lost just one game to the Gaels dating back to the 2001 season, and the Lions have gone 14-1 over the last five years.

Looking Ahead

LMU wraps up home PCSC play against Santa Clara on April 29th and 30th. It marks the final home games of the season, and LMU will honor its three-person senior class on Senior Day on Sunday, April 30th.

Looking Back
LMU and Portland State managed just one game before rain forced the postponement of the rest of the series. The Vikings took the game, 7-5. LMU took the first lead of the game, 1-0, when Kirsten Slouber scored on a wild pitch. The Vikings scored five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-1 lead, but the Lions answered with four runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game. Hillaree Bennett cleared the bases with a 3 RBI double. Portland State took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth and added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth for the 7-5 win.

Around the PCSC
Portland State remains in first place of the conference with a perfect 5-0 record. San Diego recorded a four game sweep of Saint Mary's to move to 6-2 on the season.

Sacramento State and Santa Clara split a pair of doubleheaders. The Broncos got a game one victory both days, and freshman pitcher Cassie Cervantes led Sac State to game two victories to earn the split.
