LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Tiffany Pagano's two complete game shutouts earned her PCSC Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, the conference announced today. The junior tied the LMU career mark for shutouts, allowing just four singles in 12.0 innings last weekend with 15 strikeouts and no runs. She has been named the conference Pitcher of the Week nine times in her career.
In four PCSC starts at home this season, Pagano has not allowed a single run, recording four shutouts. Last weekend, she tossed a pair against defending PCSC champs Portland State.
On Saturday, she struck out 10 and allowed just three hits to lead the Lions to a 3-0 win. On Sunday, the team needed just five innings to run-rule Portland State, but Pagano continued her streak of shutouts. She allowed just one hit with no walks, striking out five for the win.
For the season, Pagano has a 2.16 ERA with a 16-8 record. She has 193 strikeouts in 155.2 innings and is currently ranked 37th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings. In addition, her 16 wins is 55th in the nation.
With her shutout on Sunday, Pagano tied the career shutout mark of 22, previously set by Jennifer Heliotes (1999-2002). Pagano has eight shutouts this season.
Pagano is also eyeing the career strikeout mark. She needs just seven strikeouts to tie the mark and eight to break it.
She earned the PCSC Pitcher of the Week honor on February 20th, March 13th and April 3rd. Over her career, she has been named the PCSC Pitcher of the Week nine times.
The Lions wrap up their home games this weekend, hosting second place Saint Mary's in a four game series beginning on Saturday at noon. LMU will honor its three seniors in a ceremony on Sunday.
