Briefly
The Lions wrap up home play by hosting Santa Clara in a four game PCSC series this weekend. LMU went 3-1 last weekend, and is looking to move up the conference standings with a strong performance against the Broncos this weekend. Sunday is Senior Day, and LMU will honor the four members of the senior class- Brittany Bassett, Sarah Casillas, Krystal Kehr and Samantha Lavino.

Lavino Named Pitcher of the Week
Senior Samantha Lavino was named the PCSC Pitcher of the Week for her impressive performance against Saint Mary's last weekend. She picked up two victories, and did not allow a hit all weekend. She pitched a no-hit complete game shutout victory in LMU's 8-0 five inning victory on Sunday.

Cook Heats Things Up
Tracy Cook had a phenomenal weekend, and has been on fire at the plate since PCSC play began. In non-conference play, Cook struggled with a .186 batting average with one home run. In conference games, Cook is hitting .444 with two home runs and two doubles. This past weekend against SMC, Cook hit .643 with a 1.214 slugging percentage.

Bennett Earns Monthly Honor
Hillaree Bennett earned the LMU March Student-Athlete of the Month award. Bennett was spectacular in March, hitting .385 to lead the team to a 13-8 record in March. She had six home runs and two doubles with 15 RBI. She hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead LMU to a 2-1 victory over #25 Fresno State.

Walk this Way
Hillaree Bennett broke the LMU single season records for walks against Saint Mary's and now has 37 for the season. The previous record of 34 was set by former Lion great Danielle Kaminaka just one season ago. Bennett is currently ranked 4th in the nation in walks per game at 0.88.

Bennett Among Nation's Leaders
When the national statistics came out this week, Hillaree Bennett's name was in three places. In addition to ranking 4th in walks per game, Bennett was also 15th in the nation in slugging percentage at 0.800. Her .410 batting average is 40th in the country.

April Showers Bring May Makeup Games
LMU and Portland State were only able to play one of the scheduled four games last weekend. The two teams will play the remaining three games if they will play a factor in deciding the conference champion on the weekend of May 12th and 13th.

This Week's Opponent
The Broncos are 16-30 on the season, with a 5-7 record in PCSC play. Jessica Clee leads the team with a .370 batting average and has a team-high nine home runs. She also has 31 RBI, six doubles and three triples this season. Liz Courter is SCU's ace in the circle with a 3.02 ERA. She has pitched 132.0 innings, starting 20 games with an 8-13 record.

Looking Ahead
LMU will travel to San Diego to take on the Toreros in a four game series starting Saturday, May 6th. If necessary, the Lions will head back to Portland State to complete the rain-shortened series.

Looking Back
After dropping game one of the series, LMU roared back to win the final three games against Saint Mary's. Hillaree Bennett had a home run and double in the game two 6-5 victory. On Sunday, the Lion offense exploded, winning game one 7-3, and invoking the mercy rule with an 8-0 five inning victory. On Sunday, the Lions hit .431 as a team with a .686 slugging percentage. In addition, Samantha Lavino pitched a no-hitter in game two,

Around the PCSC
Portland State remains in first place of the conference with an 8-1 record. The Vikings recorded their first loss of the season to Santa Clara but won three of the four games.

In the other conference series, Sacramento State and San Diego split on both days. The Hornets sit at 6-6 in conference play after splitting in every single day of PCSC action, and San Diego is in second place with an 8-4 record.
