LOS ANGELES - For the second consecutive year, Loyola Marymount third baseman Meghan Harman has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution, and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at his/her position.
Harman, who hails from Trabuco Canyon, Calif., is one of four infielders named to the 11-member team, and is the only player from the West Coast Conference. The senior health and human sciences major carries a 3.68 cumulative GPA.
Harman had been the Lions' leader at the plate all season long, pacing the battery with a .369 batting average, 41 hits, 30 runs and 27 RBIs. She also holds a .694 slugging percentage and .478 on base percentage. Sixteen of her 41 hits have been for extra bases including six doubles and a WCC-leading 10 home runs.
Career academic honors for Harman have included a three-time selection to the Pacific Coast Softball Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, the 2013 PCSC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a 2013 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
